Shortly after Helene, the figure of Man in the Water developed into my work. A simple, unobtrusive figure, rendered in the aesthetics of Folk and Outsider Art, emblematic of the sadness and hope circuiting through our community. The figure stands in awe of the profound power of nature, facing the wild, uncertain future. Yet, the figure still stands. It stands for those we've lost, and for those who remain. Having been trained in literary and rhetorical analysis, the written word features prominently in my works. A portion of the language in this current painting consists of the following:
