Fourteen/Fifteen
ARTIST: Rachel Stark
Hand spun and finger knit silk on reclaimed sealed railroad anchors
2024
Install shown in photos is 7 Ft tall and 10 in wide. Individually each anchor is 7 in x 1.5 in.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
With the tracks the only way to get into the River Arts District two days after the storm, I have been harvesting metal from the tracks for art since. The wreckage is wrapped with hand spun yarn to process the destruction -all that was lost, all that is here, and all that is to come. This piece is an inquiry into what it means to be "touched," and how paths change.
